WELCOME TO THE ESO

2016 is our 36th season

2016 Sat 9 Jan, Sun 10 Jan, 29th annual Young Soloist Competition 1st round, Birley Centre

Some 30 competitors from music colleges around the UK and abroad presented a 15-minute performance of a contrasting programme of their own choice, judged by four adjudicators.

The judges of the competition thank the competitors. Both judges and audience were hugely impressed with the high standards. Thank you too to the accompanists.

Click here for the results of the first round of the 29th ESO Young Soloist Competition.

The final round, on Sunday 7 February at 2pm (£8 on the door only), will feature the winners of this first round who will present a 20-minute performance of two contrasting concerto movements.

Elgar Dream of Gerontius

The last time we performed this was in 1999, the first of our 11 choral concerts in Chichester Cathedral. We are delighted that Eastbourne's Renaissance Singers will form the semi-chorus, and the soloists will be Susan Legg, Andrew Mackenzie-Wicks and Jozik Kotz. As well as the regular Tuesday evening rehearsals for the singers, there will also be three Saturday afternoon workshops run on the same lines as before. We are keen, obviously, to welcome a large number of singers and hope that our flexible rehearsal schedule will allow as many singers as possible to join us while, at the same time, producing a healthy balance between the voices. If you wish to sing with us, please complete the form (click here) by the end of November. More details from concertmanager@eso.org.uk or 07780 993801.
